When we met back in 2023, it was pretty instantaneous that we knew we wanted to get married. (Ryan says he knew night one, and it took Aly a whopping 4 days.) From that first week, we joked about running away to get married and keeping it a secret. After juggling our busy lives and taking care of Aaron (our pride and joy), we decided to skip the runaway plan and just showed up at the courthouse 10 months later. A phone call with our officiant, Christian Jewkes, made it official. We planned to surprise everyone but—after some pressing by Ryan's parents the secret was out! Once we saw the joy from those who knew, we shared the news: we tied the knot, just the two of us and Aaron.
Neither of us cared about big engagements or traditional weddings. All that mattered was committing to each other and building a happy life together.
After getting married, we bought a house, advanced our careers, and created countless cherished memories. We wanted to build a solid foundation before celebrating. Now, nearly a year later (March 6, 2024), we’re ready to share this joy with our closest family and friends.
Since most of you don’t live near Myrtle Beach, we figured a destination wedding would make the most sense. We chose Riviera Maya, Mexico, to simplify lodging, meals, and transportation. We know traveling abroad is a bigger ask and requires a passport, but we feel the experience will be unforgettable for all of us.
If you can’t make it, we completely understand. (Just be sure to RSVP anyway and check that you won’t be coming.)

RESORT INFORMATION
(AKA our heaven on Earth)
The Barcelo Hotel group in Riviera Maya, Mexico holds a special place in our hearts. Ryan has been visiting for over 20 years, and in summer 2024, we decided it was the perfect spot to celebrate our lifelong commitment with family and friends. After just an hour there (and a couple of Piña Coladas), we knew this was the place to make unforgettable memories with you all!
About the Resort:
The Barcelo Hotel group features six connected hotels along a stunning 1.5-2 mile beach (with a shuttle for convenience!). Each hotel has its own buffet and fine dining restaurants, all included with your stay. Trust us, you'll want to make reservations at the restaurants!
Beach, Caribe, Tropical, and Colonial Resorts: Centrally located with a “stay at 1, play at 4” policy, these are budget-friendly options. The Beach and Caribe have been recently renovated and look fantastic!
Barcelo Maya Palace: A “stay at 1, play at 5” option with family-friendly perks, like incredible kiddie pools. Our ceremony will be held here under the gazebo at dusk, and all guests can attend regardless of where they stay.
Barcelo Riviera: The adults-only, luxury section. Staying here gives you access to all six hotels. This is where we’ll be staying!

How To Book
You can book for the resort in a variety of ways, we'll link you a few of them below. Personally, we created a member account through the Barcelo website and booked through there.. But that's because we want the rewards points to go back 😜
Cheap Caribbean, Expedia, etc are all perfectly fine options. Do your own research here and do whatever is best for you.
Since there is a variety of different hotels you are able to chose to stay at, the Barcelo Hotel Group does not provide a hotel block.
When To Stay
The ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 26th at 6pm. We are staying from Tuesday, July 22 - Tuesday, July 29th. Please feel free to join us for whatever timeframe works best for you. Some may choose to spend a week while other may choose to come for the weekend (Friday through Sunday/Monday). Whatever you prefer, we will update the website with our itenerary as we get closer to date so you can plan to join whichever activities outside of the ceremony that you would like!
Booking Flights
First of all, you NEED your passport! If you don't have one already, don't stress because the process is pretty simple. But don't delay- the normal process takes about 6-8 weeks for you to obtain it after they receive your application, which can take up to two weeks from you sending. (There are expedited options) We will link you the Department of State website for you to get started with that below.
As far as flights, you can package your flights together if you're booking on cheapcaribbean or Expedia, but personally we like using google flights.
You can fly into either the Cancun Airport or into Tulum Airport, and the taxi ride is about an hour and some change from either airport depending on traffic. If you're booking through the Barcelo website, you can package private transport to and from the airport with them, but getting a taxi when you arrive is perfectly fine. We have done it both ways.
